A visit to NI and the sea is always soul restoring. I love the green hills (even though that's because it rains so much!!), the cows and sheep grazing, the crops growing, the hedgerows and just the slightly slower pace of life when I'm there.
The coast is stunning, and my family always think it's funny that Sean and I have to have a few trips to the sea when we are visiting. But we do live in Nottingham, which is about as far from the sea as you can get in the UK!
It's also always a joy (with lots of fun and chaos!) to see the members of my family, and catch up with what my nieces and nephews and their children are doing. My dear brother in law was pleased to host us in his new house....along with most of the family for Sunday 'pot luck' lunch.
(Sorry missed the Whitemans in my photos!)
However visits these days are tinged with sadness because my beloved sister suffers from dementia and brain damage. It is good to see her, but it also heart breaking. I am grateful for the constant care Bert gives her, along with regular visits from her children.
My 2 constant prayers for her are:
That she would know God loves her & we love her
She's still our Sheelagh and we love her!
What might God be saying?
This is a tough one. I will never understand how God allowed this to happen to Sheelagh. She is still my sister and I love her, but I really miss the old Sheelagh. There are times we just have to trust God and accept that 'bad things happen to good people'.
My prayer is that in her inner self she still knows the love & care of Jesus, her Saviour. “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day." (2 Cor 4)
